Crossroads

Crossroads was the first-ever creation of this type of art that was made. Measuring 1.7m x 1.5m it consists of multiple layered canvases and features a tree which is my favourite thing in nature. The high medium usage was born out of a love for scrapbooking and all its varied elements including patterned paper, flowers, and so much more. Then combined with my overwhelming love for collecting every little thing and using it to create a feeling that I'm trying to express.

Crossroads was created through a major turning point in my life. When I was making the decision to leave my first marriage. A decision that would change the whole course of not only my life but my two children at the time. I created crossroads to depict that we all have major points in life that are crossroads and once a decision is made there is no going back.

Crossroads needs to be restored as it is over 15 years old and has been through a few moves. The restoration may change it slightly which is why I am procrastinating in doing it. It's very hard to capture the whole depth of this artwork, so the image below is cutting off the edges of some of the canvases.

Crossroads

A dynamic video that is posted to "In The Arts" social media pages

A close up shot of the tree travelling over a canvas step. I made out of crumpled newspaper and metal washers. I then edged it in a black outline and black brushed the newspaper creases.

A dynamic angled view of the tree branches reaching up to the sky.

A shot of the bottom canvas, the start of the journey in life.

A close up view of the step up to the top canvas piece that is supposed to symbolise moving on ward and upward into the sky.

A shot of a more busy top area, where I was expressing the business of racing thoughts, the feelings of overwhelm that comes about when making a decision

A full capture of the tree and showing some of the truer colours in the paint work.
